In a significant stride towards marine conservation, Nirwana Gardens proudly announces the successful release of 132 baby Hawksbill turtles into their natural habitat. This milestone event took place at Banyu Biru Villa beach on 5th and 6th July 2024, Friday, and Saturday, marking a crucial effort in safeguarding the future of these endangered species.
Hawksbill turtles, recognized for their unique shell patterns and critical role in marine ecosystems, face numerous threats including habitat destruction, pollution, and poaching. The release of these turtles represents a collaborative effort in protecting and restoring the delicate balance of marine biodiversity.

The Green and Hawksbill Turtles climb ashore to the beaches of Bintan Island twice a year to lay their eggs. The Nirwana Gardens conservation team collects and buries the eggs in a sheltered hatchery to protect them from predators and poachers. The eggs will be conserved for approximately 60 days before they hatch.
